At this exciting celebration, we reenact Jesus' triumphant entrance into Jerusalem as our children come down the aisles waving palm branches during the opening hymn. The people shouted "Hosanna, Hosanna in the highest" meaning "save us" or "rescue us." They expected Jesus to liberate them from Roman rule. But that's not why he came, at all. Palm Sunday invites reflection on the hopes placed in Jesus and the deeper salvation he brings.
